
Each Project California participant selects one of the following activities as an afternoon elective. Each elective will run for the duration of the program, three afternoons per week. The other two days per week are spent in and around Santa Barbara and the surrounding beaches.

Professional instructors will teach us the basics of sea-kayaking, stand-up paddle-boarding, surfing, and more. (4 weeks only) The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program is to provide lifeguard candidates with the skills and knowledge necessary to keep the patrons of aquatic facilities safe in and around water. On successful completion of the course, participants receive two certificates, one for American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and first aid which is valid for 3 years and the second for American Red Cross CPR-FPR which is valid for 1 year. Please note that out-of-classroom coursework is required for certification and participants must be proficient swimmers prior to the course. |
