Protect the Environment : Project California Summer Community Service Program

Protect the Environment

Rein Community Service Project performed in conjunction with Project Clean Water, Channel Islands Restoration, Looking Good Santa Barbara, Municipal and County Parks and Preserves.

Protect the EnvironmentOur restoration and education project will serve in beautifying Santa Barbara County and will increase awareness and promote individual and group actions to help the environment. All volunteer work takes place outdoors and each day offers a different experience. Our volunteers will restore native plant-life to balance the eco-system, reduce weeds and shrubs that encroach upon local plant species, beautify local county beaches and watersheds, and help keep downtown Santa Barbara litter free. We will also become more fully informed about the importance of recycling, buying locally grown food, and other actions we can take to promote a more sustainable planet. During this program our volunteers will also kayak through the beautiful Channel Islands and along the California coast as they learn about the history of this beautiful area and the importance of keeping the eco-system in balance.

  • Community Service participants volunteer with the same project for the length of the program, in order to make a lasting impact on the environment of beautiful Santa Barbara County.
  • Participants volunteer Monday – Friday, four hours per day, for the duration of the program, earning between 60 to 80 hours of Community Service credit.
  • The goal of Project California Community Service is not only to give back to the community but for our participants to also learn and grow through their experiences.
